Split lip and split ear lopes!

OK, so they are probably unrelated but did not think this warranted two posts.

My 1 year old DD has had a cracked bottom lip for a couple of weeks now, and bleeds every now and again. I am piling on the vaseline but it has not got better. Any one else out there found a way of helping little ones with sore/dry/cracked lips?

Secondly, and something I am more worried about is that where her ear lopes meet her head, the skin has become red and sore - this was on just one ear but is now on the other as well. I have been using sudocrem and savlon but no improvement. Been a couple of weeks now. It almost looks like her ear has 'torn' from her head - but there has been no screams and no blood - just looks red and sore.

Has anyone had anything like this? I am phoning the docs on monday as worried it may be an infection or a fungal infection??

Sounds like eczema, my dd had it as a baby but doc gave a good emolient to use after bathing and had no repeats if use emolient if skin looks dry. Do try not to overbathe though as we tend to be a bit over the top with washing and it dries the skin out. Go to docs, nothing to worry about

thanks cheekymonkey - could it really be eczema? never crossed my mind to be honest as she does not have any dry/red patches anywhere else

Could be, can be really localised. You can be completely clear all over your body but just get it on your toe! Always worth checking in case it gets infected.
