chicken pox spots question

hi everyone
i was wondering if anybody could please tell me how long it takes for the chicken pox spots to become fluid filled blisters?
i ask because my foster baby developed the spots 4 days ago, however she only has 5 spots and none of them are fluid filled.
she has been to the gp (as she is a lac)
and he diagnosed chicken pox, although i am starting to question whether he is wrong, purely because these spots do not look like chicken pox spots.
having said that my two daughters and one of their friends have also come out with the same rash, and again they are not fluid filled. now my daughters had chicken pox last year and quite a severe case too, with my eldest having over 800 spots, so i would have thought given the severity of the case that they would have built up a good immunity to it.

can anyone advise when the spots will change to fluid filled blisters and if there are any other infectious rashes that look a little like chicken pox.

the rash started with a cirle about the size of an old halfpenny (tiny), it has a dark pink outer ring and it skin coloured in the middle, th emiddle is also a little crusty looking. she then has another one on her neck below her ear that is just a pink bump.

my daughters are a mixture of the two types.

does anyone know?

When DD had chicken pox last year she woke up with fluid filled spots on her back (she was completely spot free when she went to sleep). I knew straight away that it was chicken pox. The spots are very distinctive in that way.

I'd go back for a second opinion or ring your GP and explain your concerns if he's available.

My son had some spots on his forehead and tummy from last Monday to Friday. He went to nursery and nobody said a word. According to NHS Direct, if they are chickenpox spots, they shoud have come out in blisters in 12-15 hours.
Eventually last Friday he came out in proper chickenpox all over, blisters et al. He still has not quite come out of the woods yet.
My DH thinks the first lot were not chickenpox spots, but retrospectively they must have been.

Sorry, it is not a piece advice, but this is what happened to us.

Sounds like you've all got some sort of rash to me. Chicken pox spots generally stay once they've appeared and become the fluid filled spots we've talked about here.

Let us know how you get on at the drs.

yeah I agree sounds like a rash and not chicken pox! maybe bites of some kind, you been playing in long grass? although I have heard before you can sometimes get a couple before the full blown virus hits you.... let us know what Dr says today? have they been full of a cold? both mine were really grim with heavy colds week before spots arrived....mind you its not as scary now as it was I don't think and best to get it out of the way while so young i reckon, both mine have had the full monty now they were covered from head to foot even in eyes bless my eldest had it really grim and was really poorly with it although I used that clear gel from the chemist, think you can get it on prescription too.......lol just found tube its called VIRASOOTHE and it was ace, didnt stink or make a mess like calamine lotion and totally stopped the itching so neither have any scars at all which i thought was unbelievable considering how bad they got it....so if it is pox give it a try best wishes xxxx

Sounds like ringworm to me.

You haven't got bed bugs have you? Check the sheets for little spots of blood.....

(sorry to suggest utterly miserable possibility...... Shock)

no they are all brand new mattresses thanks for the suggestion though x

i now know what it is.
we bought a persian kitten last week. turns out he has ringworm (nice of the breeder to tell me wasnt it)

so we all have ringworm. i freake dout as i thought it actually meant we had worms living under our skin hahaha, but its just a variation of athletes foot.

we have some cream now and we have to use it for 7 days.
i cant believe the breeder would sell us a cat knowing it had ringworm!
