Quick question please - coughing

ds (2y6m) has been coughing roughly every 1-2 minutes since he went to bed 2 hours ago. He seems to be asleep but he's obviously not in a deep sleep as he keeps stirring and coughing again.

We've raised the head of the bed and put a wet towel on the radiator. Is there anything else we can do? We don't have any cough mixture in the house but we do have some calpol.

Thanks.

Have you Karvol or olbas oil. Or I've heard vaseline on bridge of nose can clear congestion.

No we don't have any Dolanette.

He seems to be coughing a bit less - every 5 minutes or so now. I think it's going to be a long night :(

Maybe making sure that the room is not too warm. When he wakes up giving sips of water/chamomile tea (with or without honey). Maybe buy tomorrow a Sterimar nose spray at Boots or otherwise saline drops (I suppose if really necessary you may find somewhere on Google how to make them yourself). I like Sterimar because it is easy to use and dose. Also, I would get some calprofen tomorrow just in case you need more help with fever control if he gets fever. There is special olbas oil for children (Boots). Commiserate with you on the long nights, I have been feeling this for the last four weeks and still on-going. Also, what helps with my dd when she wakes up coughing her lungs out very distressed, to distract her with stories/audio CDs. She listens for a while - calms down- drifts off again (and then it is just me awake waiting for the next coughing attack ...). Good luck.
