Drying up chickenpox

Hi, my ds is 4 and is recovering from chicken pox she had them everywhere and they are all drying up nicely except for two on her toes which are still cloudy blisters.

She only started big school this term and came down with it on her 3rd day so is desperate to get back to school and it's school photos on monday so I would love her to be back (even if she won't look her best!!).

Does anyone have any tips on how to dry up the last two, I am already 'calomining' like crazy but wondered if there were any other suggestions.

thanks

When did the spots first become obvious to you?
I'd be surprised if they weren't all dried out by the coming Monday.

I know that this isn't univerally accepted, but I think a lot of institutions operate on the rule that it's no longer contagious 5 days after the spots first appeared (even if they don't appear to be fully dried over at that point).

As far as I could tell, many spots never really dried up on DC, they just sort of faded away. It never seems very contagious to me, DC have exposed lots of other children (hours of playing together) and the other child never got it.

she came out with it last friday and it is all but these last two stubborn ones which haven't scabbed. I think they should go over the weekend.

I agree lots of her spots have just faded away it is only the big ones which have scabbed.

School again on monday I think.

I'm sure she'll be fine to go in, can't possibly be contagious to anybody after 10 days!!

Recently found Pox-Clin mousse (about a tenner from Boots) worked well. Bloody expensive but helped loads when my two were suffering, and did seem to speed up the drying a bit.

sodium bicarbonate dries them up.

I put bicarbonate of soda in DS's bath to help get over the itch and to promote drying.

I also put lavender oil in is bath water (once finished with bicarb) as this helps dry out the remaining spots and promotes healing/decreases chances of scarring.
