Terry Pratchet.

She's just finished the Geek Girl series. She loves a series. There was a list on Mighty Girl the other day so she will be looking at those. My nephew is reading Warrior Cats.

She is working her way through the Mortal Instruments collection. I think she is on City of lost souls.

Love, love, LOVE the Gone series. I recommended them to a student this week and he thinks they're fab too!

What's your DC's reading age/interests? How Noughts and Crosses? Or try Patrick Ness.

Thank you everyone.
I feel like a bad Mummy. I have really taken my eye off the ball with her reading, whilst concentrating on younger siblings. Her birthday is coming up and she is rereading the Harry Potter series for the nth time and I really feel like I need to get her something else.
Interests wise she's a sporty, playful girl. She enjoyed HP, has previously enjoyed David Walliums and Gill Lewis but never really loved Michael Morpurgo. Reading ability wise I think she's pretty average to a bit above average. In grammar school so reasonable understanding but if I'm honest a teeny bit lazy when it comes to reading. She does well with books that she don't have to think too hard about, and can just lose herself in.
I'm guilty of steering her away from books with too much teenage content too. I know she's goring up but don't really want her reading about sex, boyfriends etc as I don't think she's emotionally there yet.
Thanks for your suggestions, I am grateful.

If you're worried about content I wouldn't give her the Gone series as it becomes very dark. To be honest, I'd focus on her reading for pleasure rather than making her read books she has to think about. I would recommend :-

Girl Missing series by Sophie McKenzie
Chinese Cinderella by Adeline Yen Mah
Geek Girl by Holly Smale
Murder Most Unladylike series by Robin Stevens
Secret Hen House Theatre by Helen Peters

My dd is reading Cat's Eye (Margaret Atwood) and before that read The Fault in Our Stars. She really liked The Hunger Games trilogy. Not so much into teen romance :)

She doesn't like anything scary but for some reason doesn't mind divergent.

So many books aimed at this age are so so dark

My 12-year-old bookworm is loving the new Sophie Kinsella book, Finding Audrey (or something!) She has also really enjoyed Wonder and the Divergent trilogy, and she's storing up a series of four books which are something to do with a robot Cinderella and various other fairytale characters.

She is just 11 but has a 12+ reading age. She loves series, hate romance, morpurgo and HP.

She has just finished
The hunger game
Alex rider
Read all the rick riordan waiting impatiently for the next one!

Started
The power of 5 (Horowitch)
The complete philosophy files
the gemstone of birmingamen (sp?)

at school she enjoys the 39 clues, atticus claw, jacqueline wilson

Wants to read
The lords of the rings, she's already read the hobbit.

Classic she has enjoyed
Little women
the little prince
Tintin
Some Jules verne

Waiting for more suggestion too, please. will look into divergent and rooftoppers, I stepped back at the maze runner (not sure it was suitable, but then the hunger games and lords of the rings neither).

dd really likes HP, Hunger games, MAze runner, Divergent, Mortal Instruments, Legend series (MAri Lu)Was really into all Rick Riordan books. Not too keen on Geek Girl.

She has mentioned the Gone series, but I read it when ds was into it and I didn't really liked it, so have tried to steer her away from it (at least for now) too violent (I know Hunger Games etc are violent as well as well, but, at a different level somehow).

DS (and also dd 9 y old) likes Eragon series, in fact both ds and I are re-reading it now...dd 12 y has yet to be persuaded to read it. It's a bit like LOTR.

None have been really into Artemis Fowl (except me.
Yes to Tintin (probably 1 or 2 years ago she went through loads of them)
