Any suggestions? Something current/contemporary I think. But not something tough to read aloud like Mr Gum. Great book but requires a stunning performance.
We've recently read:
Tom's Midnight Garden
The Wombles
Children of Green Knowe
Stig of the Dump
Clever Polly and the Stupid Wolf
101 Dalmations
How To Train Your Dragon
Peter Pan
Wizard of Oz
Mr Gum
Also lots of Dahl, the Sophie books by Dick King Smith, Daisy books by Kes Gray, The Magic Faraway Tree, Moomins...
DD reads a lot of Rainbow Magic and is also enjoying the first little House book. DS likes mainly non fiction, but also Wimpy Kid, Dennis the Menace and abridged classics, although struggled emotionally with White Fang.
Want something written recently and quite light/ easy, maybe humorous, as some of the language in the older books is fairly archaic and hard work for them to listen to at bedtime. DS has missed loads of Tom's Midnight Garden cos he zonks out but DD wants to hear more.
Thanks.
