is there a particularly good "my body" sort of book for a 7yr old girl?

Something sensible and practical with a positive message.

She's not quite reading alone yet so something we can read together or with lots of pictures and diagrams would be ideal

Any thoughts?

Depends what you're after. I bought The Care and Keeping Of You, from Amazon, costs £5.84. It's American but I found it nice. I bought if for periods, but it covers a whole host of things.

Sounds like the right sort of thing.

I want something that covers puberty, periods, reproduction, but also general health like keeping our teeth clean and exercising...

We do talk about all that stuff but she loves factual books and I think she would enjoy a book about it all.

The book covers all that. Teeth, exercise, washing, all sorts. You can skim through the book on amazon so you can see the topics it covers. I bought it for my oldest daughter when she was 10 as she doesn't really 'do' talking, she's very deep. I tried the periods talk but just failed dismally! She's funny about bare shoulders etc, so periods was a nightmare! I bought the book, she did the period talk at school and was fine. The book is now going to be handed down to my 9 year old.

We have the Usborne FlipFlap Body book - it's not really about puberty etc but covers what happens to food once we eat it, how are babies made and your senses. All my DDs have read and enjoyed it, though it does lead to lots of poo discussions!

Have a look at usborne.com

We have First Encyclopedia of Human Body and my 6 year old loves it.

They have a What's Happening To Me, for boys or girls, which explain puberty etc. But that one is meant to be for 9+
