Hi

My son is now at the stage where he is trying to read books on his own, he enjoys reading - what books do you recommend? (He just started primary 2 but he is quite advanced in his reading according to his teacher)

I did a search and came up with ladybird read it yourself books and also read at home books but i am unsure if these are a little bit too babyish for him - he is a typical boy and likes pirates, dinosaurs, magic etc etc

Thanks so much in advance

How good is his reading? My 6 year old just devoured the magic treehouse books. I'd say they're probably ORT level 7 to 8. First one is about dinosaurs, 2nd knights and 4th pirates there are 28.

Prior to that he loved dk readers they have different levels and boy friendly topics lego, star wars etc I got all of mind at amazon.

DS1 enjoyed many of the usborne young reading, they come in at different levels (and there are the beginning reading series before), lots of different subject matter; also DK readers; try asking in your library?

Horrid Henry and Astrosaurs seem to go down well with most.
