Cramping pains in hips/buttocks!?!

Hi
I am currently 40wks +6. Hoping for labour soon.
I have had a prob over the last few days where I am getting cramping pains in my buttocks kind of where my hip bone goes into the socket in my pelvis. It is difficult to describe. It is enough to take my breath away and I have to move to try to relieve the pain ie straighten or bend my leg from the hip. There seems no pattern to it. It can happen while I am washing up or on the loo or just sitting down (???). Is this significant in any way? I didn't have it with my first. Hope someone can help. Thanks.

That happened to me the day before I gave birth!!
And all through labour the pain was in my back and hips!

Good luck

Thanks elsmommy. I hope it is a sign then. It feels like it should be part of everything getting ready down there I suppose. This whole pregnancy has been different to the first so I don't know why I was expecting a similar labour/birth experience really.....
Anyone else experience this???
