DC2 due 24 of this month. DD was born four weeks early so have been kind of expecting this baby to be the same. Am over 37 weeks now and all set for homebirth.
Woke up this morning and when I stood up had a definite trickle of fluid. Had a shower, rubbed bump a bit, and had another trickle. Not loads, but enough to make me think possibly forewaters. No other signs. Rang the hospital (still supposed to do that for homebirth) and they said come in to be checked over.
Given full checkup. Midwife lovely and said did sound like waters had started. Explained if no contractions within 36 hours would bring me in for induction but reassured me in most cases contractions would start. Was feeling excited and relieved at this point that baby making an appearance.
Put on monitor, all fine - urine dipped - showed glucose and protein (told another sign of waters going). Then in comes senior midwife to have a look, examines me, and declares no waters, just loads of discharge.
Now home, feeling more than a tad disappointed, and a bit foolish! With DD waters broke at 10cm dilated (after only three hours of contractions) so wasn't really sure what I felt.
On the plus side, I still have a rotten head cold and don't really want to labour while feeling rotten with that. Also the closer to 40wks he's born the better as DD was a really slow and difficult feeder.
But come and share your false alarms with me to cheer me up! Anyone else thought waters had gone when they hadn't?
