hello

had bloody show on monday, still coming away this morning.
woke at 3, felt period pains, took paracemtemol.
5 ish felt a warm trickle, and have gone through 2 more pads since.
was sick about 5.30 then went back to sleep.
but still no contractions! have called mw and they said to come in after rush hour.

when will my ctx start? is that normal?
also feeling hungry now, it is ok to eat right?

ta

Oh how EXCITING!!!!

I'd say yes to the eating - your body will need the energy later on!

As for the contractions.....I have no idea. They could start anytime. Sorry I can't be more helpful!

GOOD LUCK!!!

girlsyearapart Thu 24-Sep-09 08:05:30

Exciting stuff!
Yes to eating.
Re the contractions- with dd1 mine started before waters broke, when they did I went to hosp.
With dd2 waters broke with no pains and ctx started on the way to hosp.
Good luck x

doesn't feel like i'm in labour iykwim.
feel like a big fat fraud

dh seems more concerned about not being able to play in his football match tonight hmm
but i guess he's probably just feeling anxious or some excuse

another question: can i have a shower?

FlamingoDuBeke Thu 24-Sep-09 08:12:02

Exciting!

Yes, you can shower. And do eat, otherwise you'll have no energy.

FlamingoDuBeke Thu 24-Sep-09 08:12:20

Oh, and rest now if you can, before the contractions start.

BunnyLebowski Thu 24-Sep-09 08:13:38

Course you can. Get in there!

I know you must be feeling impatient and a wee bit fraudulent but you're not!!! You are right on the verge of full blown labour......go girl!!!

And yes your DP is probably anxious. Mine watched Hulk on the PC while I bounced on my birth ball beside him contracting away!

suzi2 Thu 24-Sep-09 08:54:34

Eat, shower, rest and enjoy the last few hours of peace :-D I personally wouldn't go to hospital to be checked unless you're worried for some reason. Go in once you're well on your way.

RorysRacingMa Thu 24-Sep-09 08:58:35

what suzy says. you're well on the way. For me contractions started about 1/2hr to 1 hr after waters broke but sometimes they don't which is why the mw should know what your situation is

pushmepullyou Thu 24-Sep-09 08:59:31

Congratulations! Have something to eat if you are hungry, and get as much rest as you can!

Contractions can take up to a day or so to start once your waters go - mine started as period pains and gradually got stronger so it sounds like you're on your way.

As pp have said, enjoy your last few hours on your own and look forward to meeting your brand new baby smile

devilsadvocaat Thu 24-Sep-09 09:11:13

hi everyone

thanks for the messages. am really excited!
the hosp said to go in, maybe as i'm under consultant care?

am not going to hurry into hospital. am just having a carpet fitted as we speak. lol.

i didn't expect to be going into labour now as 37+6.

feel wibbly but still no ctx.

devilsadvocaat Thu 24-Sep-09 10:00:51

still no ctx.
will they want to induce me?

smallone Thu 24-Sep-09 10:01:51

Hey devils any news? I'll be thinking of you today.

smallone Thu 24-Sep-09 10:03:52

Ah cross posts, hard to say, why is it you're under the consultant I can't remember?

Otherwise I'm guessing they'll want to check you over and monitor the baby for a bit. Do you want to be induced?

devilsadvocaat Thu 24-Sep-09 10:05:31

pre-eclam last time. not severe though.
i was induced last time and although it went very well (worked 1st time, no epi and 8 hr labour) i'd rather go into labour naturally.

what is the cut off point after your waters go?

smallone Thu 24-Sep-09 10:09:10

I think they usually say come in after 24hrs but the cut-off is 72 I think. They might be able to do a sweep for you, just to finish off your show and that might get things going on its own. Do you have a birth ball to bounce on? Otherwise get squatting, the added pressure might spark things off.

Scotia Thu 24-Sep-09 10:11:23

My waters started leaking in the morning and contractions started later in the afternoon. I went in about tea time to be checked and the midwife did a sweep and sent me home about 6pm. Ds was born at 9.50pm so it happened really fast once the contractions started. In fact we only just made it to the hospital in time shock

Keep as active as you can - go for a walk (or even just walk about in the house) and things might get moving.

But do go in for a midwife check when you can.

Good luck

devilsadvocaat Thu 24-Sep-09 10:12:49

lol. the carpet fitter has just said i look tired

ds at dsis house, dh playing the piano which is good as it will help him relax (also nice music for me!).

i did have a birth ball with ds. god only knows where that went. think i may wait until the fitter has left before i start squatting...

smallone Thu 24-Sep-09 10:17:59

grin yes and don't squat over the new carpet!

keep moving if you feel the need, or sleep if you can. Shower but not a bath. Stay at home as long as you can, Im sure its 24 hours after waters go that you have to go in if not in labour.
soo exciting.

princessmel Thu 24-Sep-09 10:27:19

Hello DA!

How's it going??

Are you squatting??

grin

devilsadvocaat Thu 24-Sep-09 13:21:42

hi!

back from hosp, cervix 2cms, waters def gone.

she said if i haven't had ctx by tomorrow morning they want to induce me.

just had something to eat, thinking of getting ds in an hour and going for a walk.

she said it's ok to have a bath but will that slow things down?

rubyslippers Thu 24-Sep-09 14:25:43

woo hoo devils!

try to get in the bath - i found it a godsend in the early stages

eating is good - don't over do the walking

so excited for you smile

arolf Thu 24-Sep-09 14:36:43

hi devils, I'm in labour too - hope your contractions start soon (well, kind of - they're not much fun at the moment)
mine started this morning (at 6.20 exacltly) and are quite irregular at the moment, but waters haven't broken so far as we can tell.

am going to go for a walk up and down the street i think

devilsadvocaat Thu 24-Sep-09 14:50:38

yay arolf!

just watched a film and still leaking waters - how much fluid IS there!

having occasional tightenings...
