Hi,
DD born 5 days ago (Wed)... I have a DS (13months old now) so I should feel more confident...

But, DD has been difficult to settle and feeding constantly (but inconsistently) and only sleeping in very shor bursts and then only on me.

By 8:30 this morning, she was shattered. She had a good feed and has now been asleep since 9:45.... though she did sor
of wake about 11:30, fed and went back to sleep.

So WHY, when I'd spent the previous 48 hours worrying about her not sleeping / feeding enough, am I now worried she's been asleep for too long!!

GAH!!!! Please tell me this is all normal behaviour (on my part and hers!)

THANKYOU HM

I remember poking my DS1 awake because I was fretting he'd slept for too long - and this was after a horrendous night when he barely closed his eyes . Yes, this is normal - and congratulations.

Firstly, congrats on your new arrival! I remember when i had my 1st ds 4 yrs ago feeling exactly the same - completely stressed about the whole feeding/sleeping thing. So much so that when i had my 2nd ds 6 wks ago i said to myself "right, remember the first six weeks are a nightmare and then it gets better". Your little one is SO young still and it WILL get better - what you describe is totally normal for a newborn. Try not to worry and enjoy your new baby. Big hugs!!

Many congrats xxx - sounds perfectly usual (I had this for one or two days with my second - none of my kids were big sleepers! Enjoy a few moments of rest whilst you can (if it was possible with your ds!)
