Contrax every 25 mins for approx 20/30 seconds. Is it too early to alert?

Won't be calling midwives for a while but need to alert DH to be with me and in laws to come and collect DS at some point. Contrax are manageable but I need to fix my vision on something and focus and breathe. They are not thick and fast but are certainly more regular and present than the last couple of weeks of irregular ones that come and go, stop and start. Also accomapnied by need to empty bladder and loose bowel. They appear to be here to stay for the last couple of hours and are definately NOT Braxton Hicks. Planning an HBAC so need to stay very calm and quiet and not set things in motion too late.
Perhaps they will fade away again, but your experiences would be helpful as to how close together before calling inlaws, DH, etc.

Would a shower make them stop/start?

My doula had to leave country and I'm in a foreign country so at a bit of a loss as to know what, when etc.

Sounds like labour to me. I tends to be a bit quicker second time. I think you would feel happier if you did alert everyone you need to. I'm sure they won't mind if it turns out to be a false alarm. Good luck!

Thanks Spoo

Am pottering around seeing how things go. If they continue or get any closer together I'll ring (cautiously!) the bell!

I was having cxs in the early hours of this morning ten minutes apart for two hours - had a shower and felt great, propped myself back up in bed and dozed off for 20 minutes. Then they slowed right back to every hour and DP and I got a couple of hours of kip around lunchtime before getting up and moving around, which seems to be gradually getting them closer together (45, 35, 25 mins space between the last four ). Feel a bit silly for having phoned the birth centre at 4am when they were just starting on the ten-minute series.

Wanna race?

Now every 5 mins lasting 40-60 seconds. Midwife on the way...
Might turn out to still be nothing. If I'm still pregnant in the am we can compare notes TwoJobs. Good luck to you!

Good luck!

I am either having contractions 1 minute long every 4 minutes, or very convincing BH's.

Can I join in?

Good plan lulu will give that a go I reckon.

Hell, you helped me with DS1, why not DS2 as well

LuluMaman · 30/07/2009 19:44

my other rule of thumb , if you can post on MN during a ctx , then it is not labour ! LOL!

i would have remember makkapakkaswilly !!

I was trendaverter, I had a 70 hour labour, I went to a chinese buffet and did my weekly shop at Sainsburys while I was having contractions last time so posting on MN is taking it easy I reckon

thanks all.
midwife just been, coming back in an hour, says I'm 2cm. contrax are manageable, every four mins regular and 1 min long but have to sway and groan through them. Just had a succession of poops and pukes which both felt great. ooohhhhhhhhh.....

back.......2cm isn't much though trying not to feel disheartened. Hope I do't have 24 hours labour ahead. Staying positive. DH desparately trying to put DS who is totally hyper to bed. feeling pukey again. hoping someone can reassur that from 2-10dm contraxxxxxxx.......
am back..
can be ok in terms of discomfort and time...

oooooohhhhhhh bye for now.
god luck others.x

oh yes, i remmebr trendaverter!!

how time flies

booty... is your baby back to back? i had this with DD took forver to get to 3cm, then went off like a rocket.. use a birth ball to lean on or sit on, and get your knees wide apart. go with it, and think happy positive dilating thoughts.

eat and drink lightly if you can

keep up your energy

if you need to rest you should, but lie on your side

Hi again! ten mins apart now and definitely not able to type while they're going on.

Bizarrely, we've got three friends round right now who are helping DP lay the kitchen floor and prepare the bathroom walls for tiling (hopefully happening in our absence this weekend)... am just hiding in the bedroom (the doors are all off though) occasionally crouching doggy style on the side of the bed and racking up the TENS machine settings... not looking forward to the drive to hospital about 30 mins around the north circular when I'm 3-in-10... but afterwards (a) we get our first lovely DC and (b) we go and stay at my parents (which has proper floors and tiles everywhere!)

good luck booty and willy!

Our beautiful healthy girl was born at 0428, at home, in the water. about 8 hours established labour. we are delighted with her and happy with the HBAC. Was incredibly tough but managed to push her from not very engaged to out in twenty mins once midwife called "10 mins or transfer for section". as a result deep bones of pelvis not quite right and some tearing but am still relieved, knowing all will heal. willpost birth story soon. thankstoall for your support. x
