Waters breaking - any good stories?!

I tagged this question onto the end of an unrelated thread in Pregnancy but think more relevant here.

I'm working right up to the end for this my second baby and the only think I'm even remotely worried about is the embarrassment of my waters breaking at work... Anyone had that happen, or somewhere else embarrassing...? Would love to hear some stories!

My first went in bedroom while I was sleeping so I got dp and me to the hospital to be examined by a v patronising mw who was sceptical they had broken. But decided to check 'just in case' as soon as she got down there my second went all over her:O.

Oooh, someone I used to work with had hers go - quite dramatically - in the canteen!

But I think for most people they go when labout is getting serious.

no embarrassing stories here; my waters broke in hospital, I hopped on the bed and DS arrived 20 mins later!

So my story would match up with MrsHappy's comment that they go when labour is getting serious.

good luck with your pregnancy

Mine went in Costa Coffee on my due date! Luckily there was not a great deal of leakage (head acting as a plug maybe?) I managed to walk home and the rest didn't come out until 6 hours late or so in the 2nd stage. Keep a maternity pad in your handbag so you have something to mop things up! Also, obviously everyone is different, but after my waters broke my contractions kicked in 2 hours later, straight into being 5 mins apart and pretty strong. There was no build up. It was a great labour and I was very lucky. Good luck!

Mine went in the night first time, and in the night at 32+6 the second. But they never gushed, it was a constant dribble that soaked towel upon towel upon towel. Graphic but you asked! So ended up being rushed into hospital second time with waters dribbling begind me gross!!

During labour with ds1 mine had to be broken by midwife - causing my husband to burst into tears Didn't cry when my son was born (or when my ds2 was born for that matter !) obviously gushing waters was far more emotional for him than seeing his children being born - wierdo !!

in asda - but it was just a trickle and managed to get to the car and home. DS was born in the membrane so they never really broke properly i suppose.

Mine was broken for me in hospital and never gushed just kinda trickled and leaked slightly, I think DD's head was acting as a plug lol.

Am wondering how this one is going to go though.

I woke up to mine gushing everywhere, I mean gushing..have you ever seen a large animal wee? Like a camel, cow, elephant? They carried on leaking for 12 hours afterwrads and I too was riding a towel

First time they only broke when I started pushing, second time I felt them go while I was watching telly. The cat jumped off my lap in fright at the pop... Then I waddled up to the toilet leaking like the incontinent lady on Little Britain - I know what Gillyan means!

mine never broke on their own with ds, they were broken in hosp.
with dd mine broke on the toilet! my contractions had started a few hours before but were more niggles than anything else, felt a pressure downwards thought i needed a loo and just as i sat my waters went, a sudden pop and gush straight down the loo, and within ten mins contractions were a lot stronger and more regular dd was brin an hour and half later

DS were broken by the MW.

DD's weren't and she was born in them.

Don't worry, not everyone's waters break in embarrasing places.

Having said that I once worked with a girl that worked up to the end. She went into labour at work and gave birth in the ambulance.

One of my friend's waters broke on the train into London in the middle of the rush hour. She said it trickled along the floor and on to a severe looking businessman's shoes.
