Hi, I am trying to choose betwenn these two obstreticians. Guy THorpe-Beeston comes recommended from 2 friends (though i see here the feedback is mostly positive - not all!)

Ruwan Fernando specialises in the area I would like most help - perineal trauma - but I cant find any feedback on him.

Any feedback would be really appreciated! Thanks xxx

I have heard mostly good things about Guy T-B. Haven't heard of the other chap at all.

Which hospitals do they operate out of? I know G T-B operates out of the Lindo, which I can recommend. Wouldn't recommend a non teaching hospital, just because of the emergency scenario (though many who have been v happy at say The Portland would disagree with me....).

Have you met either/both of them? Think it's quite important, get a gut feeling yourself...

thanks for your help everyone! After speaking to my GP it seems that whatever the consultants speciality wouldn't make a difference for the actual labour, it is only afterwards with a bad tear you would need a specialist to do with that. So think I will go with whom has been recommened.

Thanks xxx

Guy Thorpe Beeston is definitely the very best recommended by Alan Farthing the Queens gynaecologist who he shares consulting rooms with at 148 Harley Street (specialist scanning and diagnostics opened by Duchess of Wessex. Deliveries at Portland and Kensington ward. But he gets booked up 8 months in advance!... so you may not get him. Check out Amazon he's written books on fetal medicine and scanning and lectures as well. If you can't get him ask his office for a recommendation. Tariq Mistry is his stand in at the same offices who is probably almost as good.
