VBAC birth plans?

I'm 35 wks pregnant and going to be attempting a VBAC this time around.

Last time I had a detailed birth plan which went completely out of the window - don't even think the midwives looked at it, either.

So, this time around I'm not goig to write an essay on pain relief options , but is it worth writing something and attaching it to the front of my notes?

The main points I want to get across are:

I want to keep as mobile as possible during labour.

I want to give birth in as upright a position as possible.

I have SPD, so if I end up with an epiduiral / stirrups / c-section etc they need to be very careful about moving my legs / hips.

I have a large bartholin's cyst (eek)

I am RH Neg

Some of these things are in my notes, but wondering if it would be good to have this info in one prominent place? Or am I over thinking this? (hard not to!)

Have you thought about putting it together with your community mw? For my second VBAC, my community mw and I wrote my birthplan together, so she made sure it was easy to read and visible in my notes, and covered all the vital points. She was a fab mw.
All went out the window as I was induced, but that's by the by (and was a great birth experience anyway )

Would stick to what you've written above - it's clear & consise & have it in your notes & a copy to hand out

Hi Mrsmattie, I spoke to the consultant midwife about my birth plan and she advised to add a short paragraph on my 1st birth and the reasons why I wanted a VBAC this time and also and another paragraph on VBAC specific issues such as the CFM, cannula etc if you feel strongly against any of the standard VBAC procedures..
That said It went completely out of the window because my waters went and there was meconeum in them and I had to be induced, but still they talked to me about what had been in the birth plan and why certain things would be possible etc so I think it is worth having something written down. Good luck (If you would like to see a coy of my plan let me now your email and i will send it to you)

Hi MrsMattie, I tend to recommend this for a template, you can pick and choose what's important to you.

Also think of it as your Birth Preferences, so that is feels less rigid and you know what you would prefer in the event of x, y and z
