I'm 38 weeks and seriously suffering with the heat.
Come and indulge me and convince me it's not 100% guaranteed I'll still be sat here in 4 weeks, even fatter, grumpier, hotter, more swollen blah blah blah

i'm kinda hoping to get mine out by atleast 36 weeks. i don't think i can handle all of this till 38 weeks let alone 40.

i'm currently hitting 32 weeks.

DS was born ten days ago at 38 weeks.

If you get all stressy and hot you'll get high blood pressure and then you'll be stuck in hospital as well as being hot! Be careful what you wish for!

I recommend getting a paddling pool and sitting in it.

So it is possible then ...... how do I make it happen - some sort of chant ? a dance maybe ?
Pineapple, curry, sex etc etc are all bollocks imho, tried everything with DD's and nothing helped, they were both 6 days late)

I did nothing, they just came early, and quickly - friends hate me.

WMMC, I really don't want things to end up how they did for you. Hope DS is doing well btw

God the thought of sex in this heat . Plus DH thinks I'm using him, which of course I am

Mine came at 38+3, i had a quiet word with her the week before and she seemed to agree it was time for her to come out. Also drank raspberry leaf tea and did lots of swimming and vigorous walking in the run up...

My two were born at 37weeks (3kgs) and 38.5weeks (3.1kgs).
Perfectly cooked and ready to come out.

Both times I had had lots of sex that week, eaten curry, been drinking raspberry leaf tea, and walking lots.
It worked.

sorry, first was 36+6 (weirdly the same as a couple of others' posts)- I remember vividly because they therefore would not let me use the home from home suite at the hospital as I was 'premature' ggggrrrrr.....
Premature, schmemature.....

FL,

I was in exactly your situation two years ago this evening! DS is two years at 11am tomorrow after a 1 hr 50 minutes official labour time(first baby too). So you never know...

Can I suggest some er nipple twiddling

Report
nooka · 27/07/2008 21:19

My waters broke 12 days early with both of mine. ds was a real surprise - I had assumed he would be late, and we didn't have anything!

I had dd2 that weekend a few years ago when it hit 37 C. I thought it would feel better after the birth but in fact it was easier being pregnant during that heatwave than it was being post natal and trying to breast feed and keep a new born cool! Although I think Sainsbury's were relieved that i had finally given birth as I used to spend large chunks of the day in the chilled aisle of our local store waddling up and down aimlessly!

So I would go for staying pregnant until at least later next week when it cools down. Its bound to be yucky and rainy the week after as its dd2's birthday and we are planning a garden party!!

Explain the nipple twiddling to me a bit more, is there an art to it ? I'm willing to try pretty much anything atm.
I've just sat in the garden in the rain for 10 mins to cool down - might pitch up the girls tent and sleep out there

Ds was 36 weeks - induced, but fully ready to come out
DD 37 weeks - I was sooo desperate I'd dragged my bump up several hills and eaten a curry then it all kicked off within a couple of hours...

I walked for about 3 hours solid yesterday and today have been on my hands and knees cleaning like a goodun'. Even been into the offices where I worked previously to do the cleaning which is a job I do on the side.

Thanks all for your reassuring posts that it can happen, I just know it wont be my luck

Hi, I'm 39 weeks today & also really suffering from the heat...
Just to say- it CAN happen at 38+ weeks, I have 2 good friends who just this spring had this exact experience. Both were first babies. One gave birth at 38+3 to a perfectly healthy, 'cooked' baby... it was a quick, relatively ok labour. The other friend started labour at 38+6, & gave birth to a 4 kilos baby. So again all was well. Don't listen to all those who reassure you we'll go over, at the very least, hope has to die last (especially in this heat!)

I'll have to start with the cleaning too... the problem is, I haven't been sleeping well & am just too exhausted during the day (plus, the heat in london) to do much, let alone vigorous cleaning... hope that doesn't mean I'm doomed to give birth at 41+ weeks

Maria
