what will my 3rd labour be like?

I was induced with my 1st so took 3 days but was ok in the end, my 2nd was a txt book labour started in the morning born at 4 am ne xt morning with full on labour lasting about 7 hours. So will my 3rd be as my husband predicts like a rat out of a drainpipe? Some people who have 3 + children have told me your 3rd is more painful. Is this true?

Hiya, my first two were pretty much as you described yours!!! My third...I expected to be very quick, with my second, the first push, the waters broke, the second push, he crowned and the third push he was born!!! With dd2 (number 3) it was a longer stage 3, more pushing, and I was thinking to myself, 'why is this taking so long?' I was really suprised it wasn't quicker! I wouldn't say it was more painful, in fact, probably less, I felt more in control of the situation, I knew what to expect, and in a funny way, I enjoyed my labour! I wish I had been more in the know, to realise that the third is not necessarily easier than the previous ones, I would have maybe tried a more active labour or even a water birth. The only thing that was quicker about it was that the midwife wanted to send me home at about 8.30-9am as the contractions were not regular, but pretty strong,I was getting to the stage where I needed some extra painkillers (gas and air) I had started with the first contraction at about 4am, and by 6am, they were every 3-5mins, sometimes lasting a good 45-60 secs, other times just 10secs, hence the 'irregularity'I was horrified that she wanted to send me home and she said 'oh, you Mum's who are onto number three, I know what you're like...you can stay if you want' she was born at 10am!

So, stay positive, read up on labour and how you would like your labour to go, be prepared, don't expect anything and look forward to meeting your baby!!! When are you due?

I am due October 17th but at the 20 week scan the placenta was low lying so I have a scan at 36 weeks and if it hasnt moved will have a section at 38 weeks. I have a feeling it will have moved and I really hope so!!!!

My 3rd same amount of time as my 2nd - both rather quick (but not 53 min!) - no pain relief. Similar amount of pain. The after birth contractions to get the womb back to normal size were more painful for 2nd than 1st, and then more painful again for 3rd, sorry to say. Didn't need to take drugs for it, just owwww!
