I know it might sound stupid but what exactly does it look like? 39+4 weeks pregnant with DC2 and not sure what to expect. Didn't have anything like this first time, my waters just broke and went into labout 24 hours later.

Having very strange discharge all morning today (sorry for details, but it is kind of brown colour and looks like gel ). Is it it? And if so how long does it normally take before you go into labour? (having period like pains all morning plus a bit of back pain, but still think that it might just be BH??).

I too am 39+3 (spooky!) From what I remember from my DD 2 yrs ago, my show looked like clearish jelly sort of quite runny...just kind of 'fell out' while I was having a wee.

Last night a I had some of the slimey type discharge you describe, browny (like old blood). I actually wondered if it might be something to do with my show, but nothing else has happened since, and it was minimal.

I do have pains but just too scared to get too excited just in case it is just more BH. Funny, isn't it? you get to the point you want to be in pain

I rememeber wanting labour to start for weeks before I had DS2... I was having some pains at 9pm and was thinking 'oooh I hope they dont stop' ... by '11 pm i was thinking 'why the HELL was i wishing for this to start?!'

Ya, I think we just slowly going mad!!!

Will try to get out for a walk and see if it makes any difference.

Ok girls, I am all confused. Had this pains/cramps all day but now they definitely got worse. They come every 5-10 min but last on average about 10-15 sec. Managing them ok at the moment but have to lean on something. Also if I breath correct it doesn't hurt badly. ARE THEY CONTRACTIONS??? Still find hard to believe it can be reall contractions (had so many painfull BH for the last week).

Just put my DD to bed and do not know what to do now. Is it gonna happen tonight or might last like this for days?

could be it.

Rule is usually they'll come closer and last longer and become more painful over the next few hours.

Are you near the hospital? Do you have childcare sorted? They say second stage much quicker with subsequent births......

Ok, still here. Just dropped my DD so it is just waiting game now. DH timing them and they seem to come every 5 min or so and last for 30-35 sec, do run to the loo after each of them

Called the hospital but they say it is up to me to decide when to come over. So will try to hang around for a bit longer, it is always much more relaxed at home, isn't it?

Sounds like you have a great coping mechanism and are in control. Stay with it and in no time you'll be meeting your little one.

I refused to move off the bed when I was induced. Walk around? I don't think so. It is supposto speed things up. I'm pleased that everythings been ok and babies decided to put in an apperance. I'll be thinking of you.

Don't bother asking the MV for brandy, they always refuse.

UPDATE: Baby Boy was born 28th April @ 2.58am, weight 7.5lb.

By the time we got ready I was having contractions every 2 minutes but still refused to believe I could be in real labour . So arrived at the hospital at 1am, i was waiting in reception when MW came over asking how she can help. I told her that I was having contractions every 2 min and its my 2nd baby. Still could see on her face that she didn't realy believe me. She brought me in the room and I was 7cm dilated. Then she really started rushing, organising room in the delivery ward etc. Wanted to push my upstairs on a bed but I told her that I would prefer to walk. Got upstairs and I was told by a lovely midwife that epidural or spinal won't be available for me as doctor is on emergency call and by the time he finishes will be too late

So just had gas and air through pushing stage and less then 2 hours later wee man was born.

And we are back home today. Thanks to a lovely and experienced midwife had a relaxed natural birth without tears, stitches etc.
