Please help a clueless first timer - does a show keep on showing? (sorry if TMI)

Am 40+3 and a paranoid first timer and this morning I had what I thought was a show, brownish blood in my knickers and some blood when I wiped.
Haven't had any contractions but have some slight period pain. But now some three -four hours later there's still a bit of blood - and it's not "Like someone sneezed in my gusset" which I thought was a brilliant descrption on another thread...(i did search before posting)

Is it possible it's my waters breaking slowly rather than a show? Or do shows take a while too?
TIA

my show came out like a giant peeled black grape
labour 10 days later

if I were you I would go and clean out the cupboard under the stairs and then pluck your eyebrows or something else you won't get to do for yourself for many many months and mobilise your troops, you're gonna have a baby. Soon

I had the same last night and went into a panic like you wouldn't believe! And its my 2nd! Didn't have a show with DD

Mine was some fresh red blood that was streaky and there when wiping for about 3 hours. Also some spotting on the pad which has stopped this am.

I phoned the labour ward just for some advise last night and they said to phone back if the quantity increased but it just sounded like a show.

Hope my panic can put your mind at rest!

Ooh - that sounds like a show to me! And with period pain cramps... I had a show 'like someone had sneezed in my gusset' (love it) the 2nd time round, but expected blood so was unsure. But I also had the period pain cramping in the wee hours of the Tuesday morning which slowly formed a regular pattern and increased in intensity, and dd was born in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.
My friend, who had her baby at the weekend (1st) had a bloody show just like you described at 6am, first contraction at 1pm and babe in arms at 9.30pm!
I'd say, as you're already over, that you will have your baby in the next day or two! Let us know, won't you. Good luck X
(I'm very excited and I don't even know you!!!!)
