If you have a good midwife, it's much better in my experience (my first at hospital, second at home). Is childbirth with no pain relief easy? No. But nothing beats feeling in control, not being in some grotty hospital room and climbing into your own bed at the end of it all.

Not been to Dewsbury (except to visit someone once) but my local hospital was lovely and fab last time, but everything I can read about home birth just sounds better. Personally the hard bit for me was the drive in, and staying at home you even get to avoid that.
I'm planning HB this time.Lots of info at (wait for it, I've only just figured out links!) www.homebirth.org.uk/
My husband isn't sure about the birth pool on our Victorian flag floor (supported by victorian brick wall in the cellar) but otherwise thinks HB should be great - just a consideration if you get all happy and excited about home birth you'll need to make sure your partner is supportive or start getting him to change his mind now.
Good luck which ever way you go!
