advice on dealing with an episiotomy

Hello, I gave birth on the 10th of December. It was a long labour to a 8lb 10oz baby boy that ended with forceps and 3 tears. I have Two natural and one second degree episiotomy. I'm having a hard time coping with the pain. The stitches are healing beautifully but I just ache and I'm so sore down below. I've tried bathing in lavender and milk baths suggested by my midwife and taking paracetamols and ibuprofen but what else works?!!

Hi there, congrats on the bub! Have you tried arnica? I took it regularly for a few days after I had an episiotomy after forceps delivery VBAC and it's all healed very nicely with no pain. Hope this helps and you get to sit down to eat your well earned xmas dinner!

I would second the arnica, also calendu cream or tincture in warm water helps.

Conrats on your beautiful baby and hope you have a fab 1st Christmas together. x

I found it got worse after a couple of weeks as it got more swollen, but it healed up pretty quickly after that . Lavender and milk baths helped, as did arnica.
