I am overdue and for the last few days have had terrible backache, unable to sleep, shooting pains from groin to knees, crampy legs the lot!!! i keep getting contractions every 10 mins and then they die off after an hour or so and i am beginning to think it will never come. I am so so tired i just want it all over now so at least i can be tired whilst having my body (more or less) to myself again. Is there anything i can do to stop this whole 'stop start thing' i just want it to start and keep going!!!

I have this site bookmarked just in case I need it

I'm sure Lulumama will be along in a minute & tell you nipple stim + lots of sex works a treat

did anyone mention sex and nipple stim

babys will come out when they are ready, but you can get your cervix a little riper and get your contractions to keep going a little..

if you are tired, then go to bed , you won;t sleep through full blown labour , but if you try to get it started when you need a rest, you will be wearing yourself out. how over due are you?

try a lovely warm bath, a rest and remember to eat and drink as you feel like and keep emptying your bladder and bowels

take it easy, no-one is pregnant for ever !

Well i did everything at once:
Ate two whole pineapples; long walks (although sounds like your pain may make that impossible); raspberry leaf tea (no proven effect). But the day before i was due to be induced i did the one thing that i think really worked: Sex. Sex wasn't exactly a feature of my pregnant life, but DP is not one to say no and duly obliged. Immediately afterwards DP went off to sleep (of course) and i lay on my back with legs up against a wall and bum raised up on a pillow. -Within an hour i was in labour. Apologies if this is more detail than you want, but if it's an option for you, then i'm sure it's worth a try. -To be technical, it seems that it works bc there are prostaglandins in in semen which promote the effacement and dilation of the cervix.
Good luck! However it happens though IT WON'T BE LONG NOW!

I tried everything, and I mean everything, to start my labour and nothing worked.
I remember sitting in the hottest bath I could drinking a mixture of gin and raspberry leaf tea
this was after a dinner of curry, followed by half a giant pineapple.
We then had sex.

I can tell you it wasn't the nicest evening of my life. Might have been worth it if labour had started, but alas it didn't happen lol
