Pelvic pressure a sign of labour?

Hi, I’m 38+2 and my baby is fully engaged and has been pushing down for about an hour straight. I have a little lower back ache and a little pelvic pain. Had very mild period like pains last night. Just wondering if this could be a sign of labour nearing?

Could well be. Is it your first baby?

Still quite a bit of pressure, my stomach is aching non stop and occasionally getting more painful - nothing that’s not manageable so I don’t think it’s contractions? Can contractions start by not hurting too much and then gradually get worse?
