Painful membrane sweep!:(

Hi, I am due 3rd March with my first child. I went to the hospital today because i thought my waters had broke, however it was probably urine or discharge (ew sorry). They offered me a sweep and with consulting my boyfriend i decided to take it but my god- the pain was excruciating. i have no bleeding/spotting but am having mild contractions and sharp pains actually in my vaginal area. Can anyone relate? if so, did it induce labour?

I had 5 attempts. Only one got me close-ish to labour but I still had to be induced :(

I had quite nasty pain and bleeding after a sweep.
I was overdue (47 weeks), but I did go into labour the next day.

I had 3 sweeps (1. For each) and both were born within 12 hours of the sweep the last within 3 hours! (Very fast awful labour!) if your ready and so is baby I've been told they will work. (I had all my sweeps at 37 weeks due to my heart complaints.

I had a sweep 3 days before going onto labour with ds1! It was very uncomfortable and it did hurt more then I thought it would. I am 28 weeks with ds2 and I'm praying I don't go over just because I don't want another sweep lol. Good luck home LO comes soon

Mine was painful too but I put it down to my cervix not really being soft enough, set me off the next morning though!

Thank you guys! I feel less of a whimp Grin I’ve been having contractions very low down today but still no sign of baby. The midwife said I was 2cm dialated and 50% effaced which makes me think my cervix should be fairly soft so maybe it was just the shock and my nervousness with it all. I bled a bit today but haven’t continued so I hope that’s normal. Thank you for the reassurance, let’s hope this baby comes soon!
