My sister had c section (twins) last night and I want to visit today or tomorrow in NHS hospital. Does anyone know if I will be aloud to take my daughter (age 4)

When I was in hospital it was siblings of the new babies only on the ward.

The best thing is to phone the hospital to check. Often they only allow siblings of the new baby.

Only siblings allowed here, too. I'm assuming there's no one to look after her?

I'd say no too, sorry OP. Call to check. Could someone at least sit in reception woth them for 30 minutes if they can't babysit at the house?

Not many hospitals allow children other than siblings on mat wards. Call and ask.

No childten on our maternity wards with the exception of siblings.

Rightly so actually it’s stessful enough without children to control. Your sister may well love to see your DCs however other new mums really won’t aporeciate them being there. Risk of carrying virus is also higher in children.

My nieces aged 5 & 6 came to visit me in an NHS maternity ward when DD was born 4 months ago and there were no issues. To be honest I wouldn't have even considered they wouldn't be allowed to visit Confused

When I had my twins my nieces came to see me along with my elder daughters. I guess it depends on the hospital

No you can't . I'm a midwife and it's siblings only !

Our hospital done allow any children except siblings . For infection risks and also because it's a ward full of women who have just given birth and need rest . Allowing kids would be bedlam . Sometimes even siblings can be a right pain and make such a noise on the post natal Ward . I'm sure nieces and nephews can wait till the mum is settled at home ??? No need at all for them to visit hospital

No-one stopped dp's aunt's 6 yo granddaughter from coming to visit me on the postnatal ward. Plus his 12 yo brother came to see us in the delivery room about an hour after birth and no-one questioned it.(Neither did anyone ask me if I wanted visitors).

My sister took DN to visit only 2
hours after c section. No idea if they were really allowed but no one stopped. Wish they had stopped them though as they weren't even invited and I was still pretty out of it!
