Pad Rash post birth?

I had DD five weeks ago, with standard two and a half weeks of bleeding afterwards.

I've been using a mooncup, and a sanitary pad hasn't touched my nether regions in about four years. I seem to have developed a real sensitivity to them, but with not being able to use my trusty mooncup I didn't really have any other option.

I developed some pretty bad Pad Rash along my groin when the edges of the pads rub against the top of my thighs. It's really uncomfortable, and with the rest of the lovely post birth changes to my body, I'm feeling pretty miserable about it.

I've tried thin layers of sudocrem as advised by my midwife, which gives relief but doesn't seem to be helping heal anything. I'm keeping the area clean and dry etc, but it's got to the stage I'm absolutely dreading my first period (coming soon as I'm FF) as I'm guessing it will irritate the area even more 🙁.

Anyone else ever had similar? I'm seeing the GP for my six week check next week and I'm just hoping they don't tell me I just have to stick it out until it eventually heals on its own.

Lanacane anti-chafing cream might help. It creates a barrier and soothes areas that are already sore. It’s been a life-saver for me during this pregnancy when I’ve had clothes/tights rubbing.

If it’s not clearing up, it could be Tinea cruris, (same as cradle cap, sometimes called ‘jock itch’) it’s not uncommon because using pads tends stop the surrounding skin breathe - using clotrimozole would get rid. Also reusable pads are so much kinder, I use them as an alternative as I hate the feeling of disposables.
