Hi everyone.

When your baby has their first checks in hospital (hips/testicles ect) is this be conducted by a physiotherapist or someone else?

Thanks.

It's done either by a paediatric doctor or a midwife with a special additional qualification.

Usually done by a paediatrician.

Paediatrician comes round to visit to do newborn checks before you leave hospital. Hearing test is also done but by someone else, not the paed.

Trust dependent. Some hospitals in routinely paediatrician although moving away from this now and they cover the babies on antibiotics etc. More often now done by a midwife with the newborn examination qualification. Never by a physio

With my older 2 babies the gp did the health check and the HV did the hearing test. Ds3 had his heath check by a junior paeds Dr in the hospital and his hearing test done by the HV. My youngest 2 babies were in nicu so they had health checks and hearing tests done there.
