Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience of using a hospital out of their area to have their baby?

I am not yet pregnant but my previous pregnancy was extremely complicated and ended in a c section with a GA.

I had a poor experience of my local hospital and I do not want my care for any subsequent babies at this hospital. I would need another c section as I am not willing to have a VBac. I was wondering if it is easy to refer yourself even if you need a c section?

In theory you can birth anywhere in the UK. However if you wanted a planned LSCS you would need to get some antenatal care in the hospital you wish to deliver in I guess.

I think you'd struggle because your local hospital is linked to local services etc. If the baby had to have paediatric help e.g. in neonatal unit and then follow up later in life this could be an issue
