Induction stories!

Hi all,

I had my son after being induced at 10 days over due, he was born 24 hours after going in to hospital! He's 8 months old now, think it'll be nice to hear other people's experiences. I'll share mine in a comment if people want to read it.

Think it'll be good for anyone who is about to be induced and worried about it too.

Op you should definitely add yours!

Mine is: induced at 39+2 due to gestational hypertension. The induction was finally declared a failure after five unpleasant days in hospital and I had a lovely EMCS within the hour. Thankfully DS was born healthy and happy.

I was induced 10 very long days over my due date. 1 sweep and gel at 9am. Started to lose my plug. Another sweep at 7pm. Contractions started at 8pm. Down on delivery at 1am. Tried the gas and air but made me feel really sick and almost drunk, didn't like it. Went in the pool for a bit which did help! And then pethadine which is definitely the devils work! Just made me sleepy rather than help with pain. Wouldn't recommend it! An episiotomy and very nearly forceps and my son was born at 7.16am! So 24 hours really start to finish, which isn't bad going Smile

Any more?

I was induced at 42 weeks, went in morning got pessary just before noon. Contractions start maybe 45 mins later and progressed pretty quickly.p, pain was all back and bum compared to all stomach pain with 1st.

Few hours went past, more intense and regular. Midwife came to check on me and noticed contractions were coming constantly but stomach wasn't tensing during them. I got sent to the labour suite, sent midwife to see about birthing pool and while she was away went to bathroom and walked out with trousers at ankle and baby near coming, ha. Husband ran for midwife and baby was born possibly 20-30 mins later in the sac.

I found it very intense but not sure if that was down to baby being back to back. Hope no.3 comes before 42 on their own 😁

Wow! That's good going! Lol. Maybe no.3 will arrive quickly too (without induction).

I had back to back labour and delivery too, my stomach didn't tense like others said it would. Was very intense but I have no comparison as he's my first

I was induced at 38 weeks due to my waters going and labour not starting (DC1). They'd only sightly ruptured so I still had loads of fluid!

I was induced (peasant) at 9pm, and things kicked off almost immediately. Was in established labour at midnight, taken to a delivery room at 4am. DS was born at 6:47am in the morning.

The delivery went well- I just used a TENS machine, and had a half dose of pethedine at 2am to allow me to rest. I had no tears at all, just a graze. Lost a lot of blood, but obviously that's nothing to do with the induction.

I was really anti-induction before I had DS, but it was a really positive experience for me. I know I'm very lucky though.

How did you find the tense machine Rae?

I'm getting really nervous about this 3rd labour, keep panicking when I think about what's to come 😕

I was induced ten days over my due date with DS (now 6). Hardly anything happened and it didn't really work. 48 hours later I was in pain but no progress so had a section. I'm glad it went for well for you though! My babies don't like coming naturally or by being induced lol.
