I actually just had a 'labour and birth bag' and an 'afterwards bag'. So labour bag had baby's first outfit in, to save DH rooting through 2 bags. He then just took the labour bag away when he left us for the night.

And that's a thought- maybe put a clean t-shirt in for any birthing partners too? DH's top got quite messy!

More snacks than you think. I gave birth at 8pm on Tues evening and hadn't eaten much in the day and didn't fancy the cold omelette and chips at 11pm. So ate my tea and toast, a box of flapjacks, 3 cereal bars and all the sweets but could have done with more food!

A couple of nightdresses for giving birth in and for after. Trying to wriggle jama bottoms down with a drip in your hand is hard.
Hairbrush
Dressing gown for walking around the ward in
Flannel, shampoo shower gel
Spare bottoms I managed to spill my urine sample over my jeans and had only been in the hospital 30 mins Blush
Tena lady pants. Big knickers and maternity pads
Snacks, sweets cereal bars
Water bottle with a sports cap
Clean clothes to come home in
Phone charger, book (I was induced)

Vests
Baby grows
Nappies cream wipes
Bottles and ready made milk if using
Hat
blanket
Muslins

I think that's all I used/ needed. But I took loads of stuff and didn't use it

I'd just take one of the cotton ones.

I'm the same as you due in August I'm going to buy some of those large ziplock bags today so I can pack 3 outfits for baby in (so in each bag will go baby grow, vest and nappy) that's as far as I've got!

I'm starting it now as this is my 3rd and I didn't finish packing my bag last time and it wasn't the end of the world but don't want to be disorganised again!

Ziplock bags are great. I filled one with babygrow, hat, mittens and one nappy and wrote first outfit on it. Dp said it made his life easier.

I had my dc in july and despite it being boiling the week before it was actually quite chilly the day she was born. I used one of those small basic stretchy cotton hats.

Moist toilet paper. So much kinder on your bits.

More snacks and drinks than you think.
