Royal Free or UCH?

I live much nearer the Royal Free but keep seeing (quite dated) negative experiences, so am thinking of UCH. Does anybody have recent experiences?

Can't really help as only 12 weeks but antenatal stuff so far has been good. Would be interested to hear other opinions. We are thinking of moving out of London anyway so might not be here when I give birth.

I had DS at the Royal Free 4 years ago - they were very good. Friends have been to UCH and also had good experiences! Do both birth units still offer tours so you can get an impression?

Both are fine, UCH is much more modern but it's the staff who make the difference. I would go for whatever's closest unless you're high risk like twins.

This is all very reassuring - thanks

I gave birth to both my children in Royal Free Hamstead. Both emergency cesareans. They are good in terms of saving life in case of an emergency. The postnatal care... That Really depends on the midwife that looks after you on a particular dat. Midwives differ in their opinions. That's probably the same problem in other hospitals.
