Waiting for baby

Hi, it's my first time on here and thought I would see if anyone is in the same boat. I'm due my second child (little boy) on Saturday and already have a 2 year old girl. I'm just getting fed up of waiting for baby and not even overdue yet. I know I should be making the most of time alone/with only one child but I'm so excited to meet my new baby. Any ideas for speeding up labour or coping with two? Thanks

Can't help you, but wanted to give you some moral support.
I was due on Tuesday so am 2 days over. I'm being induced on Saturday so at least the end is in sight (albeit a horrid induced end!)
I don't really buy in to the old wives tales of pineapple eating and raspberry tea drinking but it may be worth a shot! Apparently sex is good for bringing on labour but can't face it

I'm due on Sunday. I cannot wait for the baby to arrive, not because I'm excited but because I really don't want to be pregnant anymore Blush it's just too hard to be pregnant and look after a toddler at the same time, I've had enough!

Me too - not due for another 9 days but totally fed up and feel depressed.

Yep I'll hop in your boat too lovely - due on the 18th with a 2 year at home....

I'd heard that too Izzy about Sex being good for a natural induction..... Hubby might have to man up later Grin Grin Grin

Due tomorrow as well. Got a 4 year old, so tired of being tired. Any signs for you? I am feeling pressure down below but no other signs at all. Looking like it's going to be another late one

I'm due today and also no signs! This will be my first baby, so not sure what to expect! Starting to panic a bit about the whole childbirth thing, the fear of the unknown etc, anyone else feeling as anxious?

Hi ladies ..
Just for some advice
I'm 39+4 .. For the last week I've had cramps / lower back ache .. I would describe to be similar to period type pain ..
I've also each day noticed discharge / ? A show coming away slowly .. Is this the start of labour .. ? Today I've noticed the back cramps to be more painful but there is no pattern ..

X

Hi Cinnamon, sounds like early labour, but it can take a long time unfortunately. Full blown contractions are hard to miss for most people so once the pain ramps up a bit you might want to call the hospital.

I'm still waiting, glad I'm not the only one! Ordered a curry tonight but can't face sex I don't think and I read somewhere you have to do it 3 times a day to be effective anyway? Pah, no thanks!

Anyone had any better luck and something happened?

Still waiting. Due date today. Nothing much happening. Midwife doing a sweep tomorrow so hopefully that will get things moving. The not knowing is so difficult when you've got a toddler in the equation, knowing I've got to get someone to watch her at short notice (well they do say second babies turn up a LOT faster) for an unknown amount of time is probably the thing that's stressing me out the most.

This is it ..

Having quite painful contractions now every 5 minutes lasting around a minute ..

At what stage would you go to hospital ? ..

Rang and they said when I'm having at least 3 contractions every 10 minutes ??

My book says 5-1-1

  • you're having contractions every five minutes, lasting 1 minute, and you've had them for 1 hour ??

Exciting, good luck Flowers Grin

My 'excited to meet baby' brain wakes up at 3.30am and won't switch off until 7am lately. Goodness knows what I'll be like closer to delivery. I've got 19 weeks to go Shock

Had a sweep today and I'm 2-3cm. Dodgy tum tonight and lost a bit of plug so hopefully not too much longer to wait

I am hoping for sweep today. Now 3 days over with no baby in sight. DD was 11 days and I was induced. Really hope sweep does something

Sorry for the TMI, but think I may have lost some of my plug last night too, just not sure! It was how it is usually described, but completely colourless, no blood, just like a bit of raw egg white!
Anyway, still crapping myself about the whole having to give birth thing (meant to be having a home birth btw): I hadn't really thought too much about it previously, but it's keeping me awake most of the night now. Sad God, I'm such a wuss!! Blush

Oh I'm planning a home birth too. Don't worry about the fear, I think it's perfectly natural to feel a bit worried about it. The uncertainty of waiting definitely doesn't help with the anxiety.
hurry up babies!

Definitely in early labour here. Having contractions but not close together or regular enough yet. 40+3 today

Sex didn't work! Pessary didn't work!
Having my waters broken by midwife- DEFINITELY worked. Baby boy born 3 1/2 hours later xxx
(Ps epidural worked too... Amazing invention!)

I went 9 days overdue with mine. Nothing worked to speed the process up, as far as I'm aware. You could say the sweep I got at 41 weeks did it, but I was already 3cm at the sweep, so I think it was just coincidence.

I had no symptoms at all until I started getting proper contractions at about 4:30pm. The baby was born 10 hours later.

Speeding up labour - sex

Coping with two - some place safe to put the baby (we used a 3 in 1 napper), and tell the baby "I'll be there in a minute" as you will probably find yourself saying that to dc1 a lot so it's nice for them to hear you say it to the baby too.

Good luck to you!

I was 2 weeks overdue. We tried curry, walking, sex, two sweeps, but I had to be induced. I was in labour for 24 hours, DS really didn't want to be moved lol

Thought I would let you know that I had my baby boy at 9.26 this morning at home at 41 weeks. unfortunately the Homebirth team did not arrive until after he was born: it was 18- hours of hard work (baby was back to back) but so happy he's here now! Weighing in at 6lbs 6oz.
Just want to wish the rest of you who are still waiting for your little ones to arrive the very best of luck! Xx

Lovely news, 41 weeks today and getting mild and extremely irregular contractions. Come on baby. Midwife gave me aromatherapy and going for sweep tonight.

Oh congrats! Mine finally arrived Thursday lunch time at home. The home birth team had plenty of time to arrive for me, he took bloody forever to turn up! 8lb 4oz the big fat fatty!
