Due to be induced on Saturday at 38 weeks due to complications with Dd1's birth. Beginning to feel nervous and a bit scared.

Just need a bit or reassurance, i think. Anyone have any positive induction stories for me? Smile

Next time I would chose an induction over natural labour if I could. Baby born 24hrs after going in to hospital. Pain relief given as soon as I needed it. A midwife that stayed with me from the first proper twinges through to the post-delivery ward. None of the worries about "should I ring the hospital/is this really labour?" etc. Then labour itself was quick but not too quick. Overall a very positive experience.

Thanks for that. I'm just a bit worried I'll end up being one of those poor buggers who takes four days and then ends up with an EmCS!
Just trying to keep busy and not think about it!

My ds is 3weeks, and I was induced at 39 weeks for growth worries. Took 3days for the drugs to work (first had the pessery and then one lot of gel, the gel got things going quick). He's my first, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I think the contractions came on a bit quicker and stronger than they would have done naturally. Labour was painful, but didn't last forever and I now have my baby! If it's your second it'll probably be less painful, and if you're already just a little dilated they'll be able to break your waters without needing the drugs.

All will be fine. I'm a wimp with pain and managed with just paracetamol and pethadine (gas and air made me vomit). It's also quite handy knowing when you're going in. We managed to clean the house really well and go out for a last meal out before I went into hospital.

Good luck with everything. Flowers

Hopefully things will go smoothly. Take a pack of cards, plenty of magazines, and lots of change to spend in the hospital shop. I was encouraged to take a long walk around the hospital and we discovered a brilliant little volunteer-run coffee shop with the most amazing cream cakes!
Oh and can I take the opportunity to pass on my top tip of taking a pack of those Andrex toilet tissue wipes.
Good luck OP.

I was induced on Tue due to a small baby. Baby is safely here. He came on Wed. I ended up with 3 pessaries. I was so downhearted as thought it wasn't working. I walked my husband's legs off walking around the hosp to try to let gravity do its thing. Would recommend trainers. I only took flip flops and slippers and never thought I'd be walking 6 miles. Couple of days on we are still in hosp due to a low weight but all ok. Hang in there. Your LO should be in your arms soon. Best wishes xxx

I've had two inductions at 38 weeks. Both positive experiences. I'd recommend having an epidural if you need syntocin.

The only other thing I would say is go with the flow and remember to ask questions if you feel you need to. I was nearly given a section rather than a third pessary but I asked questions and as the baby wasn't at risk we were able to try out a third pessary which worked although I had been losing hope as it was taking a while. Good luck for today and let us know when your LO is here :-) X
