C section pain. 3 weeks after??

I had a c section 4 weeks ago on Tuesday, and I've recently been able to move around more, i even got to sleep on my front last night. But i keep getting pain on the right side. I crossed my legs on the sofa and tried to move my left leg to the floor and got an awful pain through the right hip... It's like a dull ache that almost feels numb, like when you get numb hands from being out in the cold?? Hard to explain but it was really sore

Also ,my 6 week check up, does the health visitor arrange that or do i make the appointment myself with a gp? Or is it a midwife who does it??

Did you have an ELCS or an EMCS? I've read on here that people experience more pain/longer healing times when it was EMCS.

4 weeks is still very early days after a CS. The incision will have closed up, but the layers of tissue inside take around 12 weeks to heal. I think it's normal for things not to feel quite right just yet, but obviously mention this to your HV. If you get more tenderness, a high temp, the area becomes hot to the touch or you start to feel unwell, go and see your GP.

I remember the right-sided pain at first, then discomfort after my dd was born by ELCS. The midwife told me that when your baby is being born, you are tilted to the right on the table (towards the surgeon), so that you don't lie flat and the baby inhibit blood flow to the placenta. Blood pools there, etc.

As for your 6w check, I remember my GP sent the appointment to me but I think it's okay to make the call and book up Smile

Totally normal this soon after. Mine was nearly three months ago and still the odd twinge on my right. It is major surgery and 6 (I think) layers of stitches. I was told full healing internally can take a year, although you won't feel it.

I think 6 week check varies by area but mine was with GP. They'll check your stitches and give your belly a press to check

3/4 weeks is still early days. You have had a major operation.

I've had two sections. While recovering one day I would have little/no pain and the next if would hurt. Especially if I had overdone it that day.

4/5 weeks post op with my first I went to my local county show.. Walked there and back and around the show. A good few miles. I was in pain that night and day after.

I had my second section 6 months ago..Still get the odd twinge..

Six week checks are a waste of time IMO. 4 weeks post op. I went to my GP to discuss contraception. 4 weeks later I took my daughter for her 8 week check.. Never even asked how I was recovering so I brought it up and they said that I'd alreay had it - when I seen the GP four weeks earlier. They never checked my scar or anything.

I had some odd pain but am sure it was on my left side, about 4 was after. It did go quite quickly. I am 5 months on from elcs now and it amazes me how little you are checked! All seems to be healed ok though thankfully. Tummy still numb though thankfully
