How can I shorten my cervix?

Hi all

39+4 second DC

Had sweep today. Midwife says am at 1cm, but that's probably just from previous birth.

Also cervix is very soft and forward but still 3 cm long. Needs to shorten before beginning to flatten and dilate.

My questions- any idea how long that might take from previous experiences? Or any tips for shortening cervix?

Want this baby out now!!!

Thanks
Hx

Your baby will come out when it is ready. The cervical effacement will happen on its own at the time the baby is ready to come. There's no way of knowing how long or when. It's different for each woman.

A normal pregnancy is 37-42 weeks so really you just have to tell yourself you're well into that due period and your baby will come when it is ready. It won't be too long at all.

I know it's tough at the end, particularly when it's been hot and humid but you're very nearly there.

Do you have help/support at home?

Bouncing loads on my birth ball, taking evening primrose and telling DD2 'I'm ready, it's time to come out'(!) helped me and she came that night. But I suppose they come when they are good and ready! Good luck.
