Positive Vbac?

im 32 weeks and getting nervous about the labour and delivery. I've opted for Vbac and am hoping for a good experience as Dds labour was 43 hours, low platelets, failing to progress stuck at 2cm and put on synto drip without epidural because platelets were too low. Managed to make it to 8 cm but dd went into foetal distress so became an emergency cs. I was about to be put to sleep in theatre because platelet levels were too low for a spinal but they did a manual count at the lab and just as I got on table to be put to sleep result came back at 80 so anaesthetist said yes to spinal so I was awake for her being born. I'm scared the same thing will happen again although been told by Vbac midwife I made it to 8 cm so that's really good and my body knows what to do now.

But just looking for stories of if you had a traumatic first delivery did you go on to have a successful Vbac?

Hi LittlePink - my vbac was after a planned cs for breech so a bit different to yours. I was still nervous though. I got lots of support on a yahoo group called vbac or UK vbac maybe? Also was recommended Ina May Gaskin to read which gave me more confidence in my body's ability. All the general advice for labour applies eg keep hydrated and eat a little, remote monitoring rather than being attached so you can be in any position that is comfortable.

i also got to advanced labour with ds1

ds2 labour was 4 hours, really straightforward, very quick. only just made it to the hospital as i was a bit in denial and expecting 10 hours of labour! like your midwife says, your body knows what it is doing now Grin

I had a Vbac - had fully dilated in first labour (after being induced and then in active labour for 30 hours before c-section) so my consultant was really positive that I could go for a natural birth.

I'm so glad I did. I went into labour naturally and was in active labour for 4 hours. My baby actually came out in 4 pushes. It was such a different experience to my first...quick, overwhelming and I felt out of control - but totally amazing. I felt so proud of myself afterwards Smile .
