so confused - pre-labour contractions? 2 days overdue

I keep getting really strong contractions which last for a few minutes, but they are like 2-3 hours apart. My midwife says i'm already 2cm dilated and most of my mucus plug has come away. I had a sweep yesterday morning, and i've had quite a consistent bit of show yesterday nd some thi morning.Last night the baby was moving around a HELL of a lot to the point it was very painful. I also keep getting very sharp twinges in my vagina, a lot of the time when shes moving, but sometimes out of the blue and it feels like shes pushing her way down. Sometimes i feel her press very hard against my lower spine. The contractions are very painful and moving or changing position doesn't stop them, they start off mild, then build in intensity then trail off which can be up to about 2 minutes, but they're miles apart. My midwife told me they wont be braxton hicks this far along. I don't know what i can do to make things progress so i'm slightly in limbo. Also my contractions today are brought on when i pee. so confused its my first baby and i don't know quite what to do with myself. please help .. .

Also i have tried the following:
.raspberry leaf tea
.evening primrose
.pineapple
.circular rotations on a birthing ball
.bouncing on a birthing ball
.sex
.spicy food
.walking

Just rest. Sweeps often cause a long latent phase of labour with irregular contractions. Take paracetamol, have a bath, go to bed and relax. You will need your energy later

had progress since then, having contractions averaging about a minute long between 20 and 30 minutes apart so fingers crossed :D thanks lotsoftoast :) x

Switch the phone off - people are so annoying when they do that! Hope you are ok this morning

YY to resting, I had three or four days worth of painful, stop/start pre labour contractions with DC1 and I tried to keep moving to 'get things going'. By the time labour actually started I was knackered and I had another 24 hours to go! It's utterly frustrating I know, but it really, really won't be long now!

I had 2 days of on/off labour with one of mine and everything I tried just made it worse but didn't actually start labour. Once I gave up and let me body do it's own thing, then labour started properly.

Hopefully things have progressed for you by now op!
I had slow stop/start labour with my first two dc. Dc1 for 3 days and dc2 for a week!
Was expecting the same with dc3 but she literally flew out!
As others have said rest up as much as pos if nothing has happened yet! And eat!

yeah i think i'm just gonna have a walk later and just then relax and let my body do its own thing i've tried everything and she wont budge so guess just play the waiting game. i'm staying at my birthing partners house til things get underway which is making waiting even more frustrating ugh lol. been on my birthing ball all morning and still nothing. been having stop starts for about 4 days now shes dropped more aswell so maybe i'm nearly there, just gotta sit tight i guess :/
