period and after birth bleeding

hi, this may be a stupid question but I was wondering if it's really obvious between your period and after birth bleeding. I've read you can bleed up to 8 weeks after birth abd people have periods 6 weeks after. so is there a definite break between the two or do they merge?

thanks

It's not a stupid question and I imagine it's different for everyone. I bled for weeks and weeks after both births and then started my period a month or so-ish after both.
But I would think that it depends on the person. I guess it's possible for them to merge. Is there something in particular that you're worried about?

At 7 weeks postpartum my period returned despite still bleeding with lochia but it was very easy to distinguish between the two as lochia was very light after the initial few weeks. I was EBFing as well, it's a myth that you don't get periods while BFing. Some womem don't and some women do.

Not a stupid question at all...without giving tmi I definitely needed materninty pads the first few weeks after giving birth, normal sanitary towels wouldn't have been good enough...
