Childbirth

3rd births

Before I start, I'm not pregnant, or thinking about getting pregnant in the near future.

But - lots of people have said to me that 3rd births are harder than 2nd ones, that the babies 'mess around' while they are being born etc. Does anyone have any experience of 3rd births being harder, or does anyone know why they should be?

Thanks! I'm just interested as to why this should be.

3rd birth here wasn't hard at all, infact it was the easiest of all three.

However HE is the hardest baby of all three so does that count??????

Third birth was definitely harder than 2nd, 10hr as opposed to 4hrs, although I don't think she 'mucked around'. Fourth baby also about 10hrs and she changed position all the time and even had a change of heart as to which shoulder would come out first! I was disappointed at No3 as everyone said third babies are born in the hospital car park.

My 3rd was the easiest - total 1 hour 5 mins in length.

Arrived at hospital fully dilated and DD2 was born shortly after arrival there.

Have to say though, same as Emma! DD2 was/is much harder work after her birth LOL!

2nd birth was quickest and easiest, but child definitely most difficult (worse than other 2 put together!). 3rd birth was hardest but child very easy - well up until now that is. He's 5.5 and beginning to flex his muscles, behaviour-wise. Hmm.

My third was the easiest in that I knew what I was doing, and felt more in control. It was the quickest 'natural' delivery, DS2 was faster, but he was an induction.

I don't see why a third would be harder, unless its because your body is so knackered from giving birth, and looking after the other two

Third birth was very quick (just under 2 hours) and very easy. And he is the easiest child too - very happy, very contented and placid. He has "fallen in" with the family routines and loves to do what the others do. So getting ready for school in the mornings is great - he goes off to fetch his own nappy, clothes, coat and gloves, etc. And he's only 20m!

Ooh, Maizie - I hope I get one of those! (DD1/DS3 due in August.)

My third was definitely the easiest, but 4th was the quickest.

As it is fresh in my mind, number 3 was only born on Tuesday, it was certainly the easiest. Number 2 was emergency c section. Number 3 was a natural delivery after a drug free labour of under 4 hours.

Third was definitely the easiest and quickest ... bit too quick for my liking ...

My first took 30 hours from first contraction (about six hours really hard work), second took 4 hours ( 1 hour hard work), 3rd took

3rd definately the easiest - the only problem that it was all over so quickly (35 minutes!) that I didn't have time for an epidural which I had had with my second - it makes the whole thing much more civilised.

I've only had 2 but I'm the third and my mother recalls seeing 'the bright light'. She was knocked out with a general and I was delivered using forceps.

My dad banned a fourth!

My aunt (by marriage) woke up (!) having her third though. She always said childbirth was 'like shelling peas'!

I have heard that no matter how many you have, 2nd will always be the easiest. My third was the worst - I always wanted 4 but not after that!! DS1 was 7/14, DD was 7/4 and DS2 was 8/15. I know it's not enormous by some people's standards but i sure as hell felt the difference. I tore terribly, and the pain in my pelvis was excrutiating.
DS1 was hellishly long (4.5 hrs pushing) and exhausting and I had to have my placenta manually removed but nope, I screamed the place down third time round!!
