It's almost 1am. My waters broke 2 hours ago. Midwife happy for me to stay at home and go in for checks at 09:30 in the morning because I haven't had any contractions yet. Should I sleep or keep moving?

Yep, I'd sleep to prepare your body as much as you can for labour.

Good luck!

Sleep.

I didn't after my waters broke with DD1 & labour took 9 hours to start.
2 years later and I still miss that sleep, like I'm owed it!

Is it your first? If yes, I'd rest as much as possible. First labours can be long and you may need your energy.

If it's not your first, I'd be tempted to trot up and down stairs!! I did loads to bring on my contractions with my second as I didn't want to be induced as I felt so ready to "go". It worked, she was born after only 3 hours.

So exciting! Good luck.

Sleep, same thing happened to me a week ago today! Get some rest then try and get things moving on the morning. Good luck.

Congrats you will be having your baby soon because if contractions don't start within 24 hours they will induce you. My waters broke and contractions never started so I was induced. Induction fine - don't believe all the scare stories. Good luck, but yes, do try to go to sleep!!

Definitely rest and relax. My contractions didnt come for 48 hours. Grin
Different hospitals have different policies re timescale to induce - and you can opt for monitoring if you prefer.
The vast majority of people do go into spontaneous labour.
How exciting you will have your baby soon.

Exactly the same as me! Waters broke at 2am, rang midwife, back to bed, contractions woke me up at 6.30am.

Good luck!!

So, I should have gone for eating and sorting last minute packing of hospital bag... Less than 12 hours after posting I gave birth to our new baby girl! 2 1/2 weeks early! Both of us are doing well Smile

Thanks so much for the advice! I was feeling a bit lost in the middle of the night back then!

Merry Christmas everyone x
