Hi ladies,
Hope all well. I'm new to this forum, infact never been on any discussions before, but now things are getting out of my control. I'm feeling so miserable. I'm ( by my calculations b/c I know when exacly I ovulated) 40+8, by the scan 40+11.
Anyways my midwife propose me to have an induction, which I refused. So I'm on everyday monitoring now. Yesterday, I went to Queens hospital to check baby's wellbeing. One of the midwife asked if I want to have a sweep done. I agreed, but after a minute her fingers being in me, she said that cannot perform sweep because she cannot reach cervix, she wrote it in the red book that the cervix is soft but very posterior. Later the day I ate spicy food and half of pineapple, maybe this is what did the trick. Like 11-12pm I started to feel ache in my lower back and an hour later I started contracting. The contractions were strong but bearable like a menstrual cramps. So decided to keep an eye on them for an hour or so, couldn't sleep with those any way. They were 6-5 min apart ant lasted each one for a 1-1.10 min. Went to the loo and noticed a bloody show coming out, it took all night for it to go and some morning hours as well.
Haven't slept at all finaly decided to get hot water bottle and put on my lower back which pretty much took the back pain away but still kept me contracting. Fell asleep, woke up with few contractions and then they have stopped!
Went to the hospital-same story-baby is well sweep cannot be performed ( different midwife) but she can reach baby's head. PP @2 .
Now I'm it's starting exactly what was last night.
Btw this is my first baby, that's why I'm so worried.
Pls, give me some sort of explanation what is happening and if something happening at all.
Sorry for the long story, I'm just got to the point that I'm desperate for my little one to come out!

at this point if you have any concerns how ever silly you think they are please phone the midwife number, they like to know how things are progressing,

try to rest,

and if you want to get the baby checked ring the midwife number and explain you are worried, they don't want you to stress.

The thing is they saying they don't know and persuading me to have an induction of labor with no medical reason for it.

Also what the hospital mw's said that it probably wasn't a contractions b/c it stopped. I felt like I'm stupid and cannot understand my body.

You are not overdue until 42 weeks so theres no need for them to be pressuring you to be induced yet. I had a few days of this with dc2 and went into labour naturally at 40+12, it was really fast when it eventually started.

Try to rest as much as you can, it sounds like you are on your way but sometimes this pre labour bit can take a while. All these contractions will be doing something so don't lose faith when they say they can't reach your cervix! Good luck Smile

Thank you. This is very reassuring. All night and now I'm having those contractions. That's what my mum said me this morning, that it can take some time but after the actual labor can be so quick, b/c this contractions doing smth Smile
Baby, hurry up, please!Smile

It does sound like pre-labour, and the stop/start nature of it is entirely normal esp for FTMs from what I understand.

It does sound like pre-labour, and the stop/start nature of it is entirely normal esp for FTMs from what I understand. As badger says, try to be reassured that these contractions will be doing something - I had these on/off mild contractions for about 48 hrs before I went into 'proper' labour with DS (also my first baby) but once things then got going he was born just 4 hours later! Try to rest as much as poss to conserve your energy for when things ramp up. And it goes without saying that you should call labour ward if you have any concerns at all. Good luck!

I think now they are more than regular. The contractions started and never go from about lunch time and I think they getting bit stronger and closer together. I'm so hoping to go in to labor tonight or following morning. And my back is hurting. If this is it, even an agony will make me so happyGrin

It is funny how the more pain you get at this stage, the happier you are as it means something is happening!! Good luck

Just a quick update.
We born on 30/09/2012
3525kg
50cm
Went through the hell. But it worth it. Baby was back to back and already I've been in such a big pain Friday night. Saturday morning we went to kings george hospital with even not full 1cm
They have sent us to Queens. Have been contracting all that time with no progress, tried everything what possible to relieve painSad nothing really worked for meAngry
Sunday morning had epidural, they have to put me on the drip, at 2pm I was fully 10cm
Started pushing at around 3.30pm and 5.10 I had the most perfect men in the world. 3 Dr and 2 mf helped me with the process. Lost 1 litre of blood. Bit more in fact ,stayed fully dehydrated with eased bp and pulse , so had to be monitored all the time. Haven't slept for 3 night, my body is aching legs swollen nearly diedSad. Feeling like a piece of sh*t, but very very happy mother;)
