Does everyone get Braxton Hicks?

I'm 39+4 and just feel so completely normal that it's starting to worry me.

Everyone asks about Braxton Hicks, but I've had absolutely no signs of anything. Does everyone have them? And if I don't have them yet, does that mean I'm going to go to 42 weeks?! Sad

I really, really want the baby to come soon as I'm finding it hard to focus on anything and feel like I'm 'wasting' my maternity leave. I can't think of anything to do, or can't motivte myself to do things. I just feel like I'm waiting!

I didn't get a single one with my first baby, and I went up to 42 weeks without even a twinge Grin

Second baby I had them from 26 weeks, so much so that i had a couple of false labour situations.

Don't worry. Not everyone has them, especially if it's your first.

No I didn't have them at all with ds, he was 4 days overdue. The first time I felt any type of contraction was the day I went into labour. Have just got a bfp so no idea what will happen this time.

I'm with you Liabella I'm 39+3 and nothing so far and am now starting to panic that I'm going to get to 42 weeks.

I am also bored, fed up and can't be arsed to do anything.

Thank you all for your responses. Definitely makes me feel more normal. Just wish I had some indication that my body was preparing for labour!

Good to hear someone else is feeling the same say NoodieRoodie.

A couple of weeks ago, I felt really excited and had lots of 'not long to go now' conversations with DH. Now we both feel like it's a million miles away again!

I've got to go the hospital tomorrow morning to check my BP as it was high yesterday. Part of me hopes they rush me in and induce me! The realistic part of me suspects they'll 'keep monitoring and waiting'.

Not sure I can handle another two weeks of the waiting!

I am 40 weeks today with second. A few twinges down there, otherwise nothing.

2 DCs, never had a BH.

At 38 weeks with DD1 I thought I was having them, she was born 16 hrs later.

At 39 weeks with DS1 I thought I was having them, he was born 24 hrs later in the living room, before a midwife could get to me (unplanned homebirth!)

If I have another DC I will stop assuming I am having them!

I didn't feel any BH with DD, although I needed monitoring at 39 and in 20 minutes apparently I had 5 and 2 proper contractions. Didn't feel a thing and they didn't interrupt the trashy mag I wad reading. I was shocked to be told and then spent the weekend worrying I was incapable of feeling contractions and the baby would just fall out of me. Guess what - she didn't, and I did feel quite a few contractions after all, drat!

I didn't have them or any sign -everyone told me my bump would drop etc I assumed he'd be late, but he came 4 days early.

I didn't have them either, I then was induced on my due date (due to my advanced age) (40) Wink

Nope, never a twitch with either of mine till the real thing. DS1 2 days past due date; DS2 4 days before.

Two dcs. One arrived on her due date, the other arrived ten days late. No BH with either of them. Don't worry.

You might not realise you're having them. They're supposed to be painless - second time around I've noticed them much earlier on. First time I wouldn't realise most of the time - sometimes they were triggered by a MW palpating my tummy during an appointment and she'd comment - I'd not have a clue!

Didn't get any Ds1 and was 10 days overdue. Wasn't even sure I was having contractions until I struggled to walk through the hospital cos of teh pain! 38 weeks now with Dc2 and nothing but the odd shooting pain down my legs.

40+1 here. Nothing to speak of really. A few achy twinges and a couple of mild contractions this morning. Lots of backache. Just feel period-y and knackered and as if I've got the worst groin strain ever!

Was induced with DD at 40+0 so don't know what to expect really - unchartered territory! Poor DH is finding the suspense agonising!

Had none with DD1 and went into labour at 40+3.

Am now 40 + 5 with number 2 and have had BH since week 28.. No sign of labour yet though (sigh)...

I didn't feel anything. I was wired up to a monitor because I had high blood pressure at 40+4 and they told me that I was having contractions. Trust me, wehen the real ones start, you'll notice.
