Homebirth question....

Do I have to have a homebirth at my own home?

Really don't feel I can do it at my place and mum has said I can do it at hers. It's two mins walk round the corner.

I guess you would have to speak to your mw team. As long as it's in their patch, I can't see why not. It's no concern of theirs who owns the house, it would just matter if it wasn't in their area.

you can do it wherever you like. you'll need to give her address to your midwives because they'll want to do a home visit

Ooooh, that's an interesting question. I can't think of any reasons why this wouldn't be possible as long as all the mws are aware of the fact that you are giving birth in one place but the address for the subsequent visits will be different.

Guess you'd have to check with your mw though.

Thanks guys will have a chat with my mw on my next appt.

It's still their area. Basically she's offered cause I really want a water birth but the hospital only has one pool. Plus I am very concerned about having a quick labour.

I cant see how a 2min walk away would (or should) be a problem

Unless perhaps you lived right on the boundry of where they covered, but then even so a talk with someone senior would hopefully make them see sense, if it really is just a 2 min walk from your house!

I'm more on the edge, mum is further in. Gonna speak to the mw on my next appt and see what she thinks about it all. Whilst there are no issues with me having a homebirth there are some issues that I have and just want to know that's not a problem.
