Can contractions feel like shooting pains in your bum?!

I'm 39+3 so as you can imagine i've been obsessively observing every single twinge and have had a few 'could be' moments over the last few weeks which have turned out to be nothing.

This morning I got serious shooting pains in my bum, very similar to what I used to get during my periods (I had endo too) I couldnt really walk and had a bizarre urge to remove my tights and shoes (much to DP's amusement!)

I'm now getting back ache and tummy ache. Is this the start? Or am I obsessing too much?

sounds like it to me.It could be a while though or very fast.No one knows. It will be very soon. You won't be pregnant any more. You will need to share your baby with others!

Enjoy your last moments (hours/days) being pregnant.Get something to eat and go to bed.unless you feel strong in which case get walking and dancing to get into established labour.

Wishing you all the best. X

Clearly not! No more pain, no more twinges.

In fact, today I barely feel pregnant, let alone like i may go into labour. I've just been sent to bed by DP though: "rest!" appears to be his current mantra.

I had similar last night Jenga - 40+5 today :( However I think a slow labour may be on the way as my front pelvis feels creaky and sore today...which I haven't had yet. No show though so prob a while to go. Hoping for a long relatively painless dilation process here - the odd menstrual cramping pain over a couple of days is fine by me, rather than the continuous ouch some people have to go through! I've just jinxed myself though, haven't I? Wink

I didn't even know that was an option! I'll definitely take the dull cramps I've been having over anything as painful as whatever happened yesterday morning. Hopefully my body is just quietly getting itself ready so I'll just keep resting, listening to my hypnotherapy cd & eating little and often.

Good luck!

When i was in labour with ds i had stomach contactions initially and then later on when he moved into the wrong position ( was brow presentation) i got shooting pains dowm mh bum and legs in between the stomach contractions. This was more painful than the stomach contractions as no way of being comfortable. So i sympathise op.
Hope things get moving for you soon.

Thank you everyone. Still nothing here though. I was really sick last night so hoped it might be my body 'preparing itself', but nope. Nothing. Nada. Now I just feel sick as well as impatient!
