Camhs for looked after children

Not sure if anyone will know the answer to this, but if a child in foster care is referred by a social worker to the camhs service for looked after children, is the referral processed much faster than referrals from 'normal' homes? The child in question was referred 3 weeks ago by their social worker and the foster carer hasn't heard anything. Child's social worker is nonplussed.

Unfortunately probably not. If it's anything similar to our CAMHS, the referrals get discussed once a week and then an outcome letter sent to their parent/guardian. I've known this to sometimes take up to a few months but i do think it depends often on the severity of the problems. I have always found them helpful when I've rung to query the status of a referral though but they generally like it to be whoever made the referral to do that

I work with looked after children and can confirm that the waiting times are the same.

Pupil premium plus is used in our authority to fund therapeutic support. It might be worth speaking to your virtual school.

Do you attend the PEP meetings? This should be where it is decided how pupil premium is spent.

Unfortunately it comes down to risk assessment meeting, if a child is in a foster home their risk level decreases
