Hi all I've just joined. My son is due to get his diagnosis this wed from his ados report. I'm so worried there going to say there is nothing wrong with him. The schools report is saying he is like any other child and no concerns. Our report is completely different. When he did the ados play it was like watching a different child. He seemed to do everything she asked him to do. The only bit I'm not sure on is when he had to pretend the house was on fire. He used the fire engine pulled up the ladder then pretended to put the fire out. He then said the woman had died and then put her on a rocket and sent her off to space. That was the free play part. I'm so confused. I just want to know what is wrong with my son as I believe 100% something isn't right with him. If I get told he is fine ect I'm going to fight it but don't know we're to start help 😩

You'd hope the professionals aren't diagnosing based on one report but talking on board your and school observations too.

Thankyou for your message April showers 177 was told he is autistic. Part of me is sad but the rest of me feels like a whole weight has been lifted of my shoulders and we can get on with making his life as good as it can be x x

Try to think of it as a context to understand him better rather than this 'diagnosis'. Getting this understanding early on means you can guide him through life preventing the distress that can occur when life gets more complicated especially with social relationships. Autism is now referred to autism spectrum condition- and it is such a wide spectrum.. keep going back to the professionals if you don't feel clear about his strengths and difficulties. I hope all goes well.
