One of my black rocks has recently stopped laying and I just put it down to molting or weather or just needing a rest. the sussex is still laying for britain bless her.
2 days ago, black rock was attacked by a dog that got into out garden and although she wasn't injured as such (more that a few feathers were pulled out and the poor thing was shocked) it was still quite horrible
day after this I found her in the nest box and lifted her up to check all was ok, under her was a completely flat shell with yolk on it. now wondering if the shock of the attack has sent her egg production up the creek or if she might be calcium deficient and has been laying flat pack eggs all along but I've not noticed when cleaning out the hay.
she's on grit/oyster shell and layers pellets but any ideas w2ould be gratefully appreciated!
