I have read something about 'removing the red' from the very sore looking peck marks (they stand out more because she is a new ex-batt so has very pale floppy comb) but what can I use? I have blue food colouring somewhere..!!!

Savlon cream? Kamillison?

As long as it is not fresh blood that is still wet, the other chooks probebly wont notice. However if it is a fresh wound then you can use anything with betadine/povidone in it, such as Savlon dry antiseotic spray. You can also use antiseptic powder such as sterzac. Another good trick which can be used on humans as well is if you need to stem beeding, to put cornflour on it - this sweels with wetness and heat and will dry everything up.

I have used all these with hens and all have worked well
