Car seats

Calling all mondeo owners

I'm currently expecting dc3. We have a 2001 mondeo and the car seats that we have currently are graco boosters, having done research online there aren't any narrower one out there. There is only 13" left in the middle & with baby seats being 17" wide it simply doesn't work.

However googling 3 seats in the back of the mondeo brings up quite a lot of forums. Each forum has one or two posters saying that they easily fit 3 seats in the back of their mondeo (same shape as ours). So what are we doing wrong? I ca't see how it works, except for putting one of the older ones in the boot!

Why don't you drive to Halfords or Mothercare and ask if they can try to fit the car seat for DC3 into the Mondeo and see how it works in practice?

We have a Mondeo and they are pretty roomy cars so I think it would be ok - try it out

You will bless the boot space when DC3 is on the scene also!

We're planning on going to the big Mothercare in southampton at some point, but it's getting the energy together to get over there! Just wondered if anyone had 3 seats & could offer suggestions for narrow seats.

Yes, you're right about the boot. The boot in my escort was pretty ig but this is giant!

hi racey lacey, i have 3 seats in the back of a vw golf, although they are 3 group 1 seats.

the most narrow booster is the maxi cosi rodi sps and the most narrow rear facing seat is the KISS(klippan isofix safety system) although this can be fitted with a seat belt.

if you can switch your airbag off you could put the baby in the front?

i'm not sure if you're near milton keynes but the in car safety centre is good and they will check all the seats for you until they get some to fit. if it's a bit far call them on the phone and they may be able to help you.

We have an estate mondeo. I can fit my 2 MaxiCosi Rodi booster seats in the back corners and had my goddaughter in a MaxiCosi Cabrio in the middle. But it was a squeeze and I would have hated doing it more than once a week. And when she moved into the MaxiCosi Priori there was no way, and one of my DCs had to go in the front on the booster.

My advice, get a car with 3 distinct seats in the back. The hassle saved will be well worth it
